Oakhill is a project in Putney, London. The original house was a half-timbered detached house with a connected garage. The house was in a poor state of repair, and required substantial work to bring it up to modern standards.
Within a relatively tight site, the garage area is to be transformed into a contemporary double height space providing family living and dining. A new kitchen links the family space to the formal dining area located within the original space. This arrangement allows the kitchen to act as the hub around which the house revolves.
A basement space has been created under the garage structure, providing a media room and additional bedroom. A small study area to the end of the living space allows for home working while maintaining a connection to the family space.
