Wood Lane is located within the Highgate Conservation area in north London. North were approached by the Client to produce ideas for increased ‘curb appeal’ for a recently purchased house which backed onto Highgate tube station.
The house was constructed in the 1980’s, and lacked a coherent facade and adequate car-parking space for a house of this size.
North presented options for the over cladding and extension of the facade, while also identifying defined areas for vehicle, pedestrian and services access on the narrow front garden. The resulting design brings together the entrance doors and garage doors into a bespoke timber arrangement, while increasing space at the first floor and maintaining the feeling of natural light within the house.
